Public Affairs Officer –Media (Ref. PAO-Media)
Public Affairs Division
3-year fixed-term contract
Responsibilities:
- Working as an integral part of the Public Affairs Division, Public Affairs Officer will be responsible for the preparation of press materials, including speeches, press release, presentations, QAs, video script, etc, for CHOICE magazine and other Council events, with an aim to promote the Council's thought-leadership and influence in consumer protection
- Support Senior Public Affairs Officer in media pitching and engagement activities by developing compelling storylines and convincing messages to secure Council’s influence and positioning as a trusted source in consumer protection
- Work collaboratively as a team to manage enquiries and interview requests in a timely and professional manner. Collate and analyse media coverage
- Monitor actively issues concerning consumer protection and the Council’s strategic initiatives both locally and globally. Consolidate and report assessment on monthly basis
- Support issues / crisis management. Responsible for the development of response messages and relevant briefing material
- Share the duties with team members to take charge of projects organised by Public Affairs Division and manage duties as assigned
Requirements:
- A degree holder in Communications, Journalism or related discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant exposure in sizable organisations or agencies. Candidates with journalistic background but only 2 years exposure in sizable organisations or agencies may also apply
- Solid experience in stakeholder engagement, including media, government officials, business corporates and community groups. Established network with media is a MUST
- Sound knowledge in issues management, sensitivity to regulatory changes in Hong Kong and its impact in public sentiment, ability to address potential negative or crisis with mitigation plan
- Thorough experience in publicity and campaign management with a track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
- A genuine communicator with strong communication and presentation skills and good writing and editing skills in English and Chinese
- A great team player who strives to contribute to a culture of high performance, teamwork and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality
- Highly collaborative in style and a natural relationship builder with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to establish partnership at both the strategic and tactical levels
- Resourceful, energetic, and maturity. A self-starter attending to details and initiating and implementing new ideas or programmes
Terms of Appointment & Fringe Benefits
Appointment will be offered on a 3-year fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical insurance and MPF.
