  • 2004.09.15

IBM is voluntarily recalling certain 56-watt AC adapters that were shipped to Hong Kong with ThinkPad iSeries, 390 and 240 Series from January 1999 to August 2000. According to IBM, this action is being taken because of reports of overheating, resulting in melting of the housing and charring of the circuit board inside the housing.

The recalled adapters have the part number 02K6549 and have 3 hollow pins in the AC inlet in the adapter housing. No other adapters are affected by this recall. Adapters affected by this recall should not be left plugged into any AC power outlet while unattended. A replacement unit can be obtained by visiting the replacement web site at: http://www.AdapterProgram.com .

Consumers can also call the recall hotline at 2825 8789 between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
