The Consumer Council (“the Council”) announced today (6 May 2025) that its Chief Executive Ms Gilly WONG Fung-han will leave her position upon the completion of her term today. The open recruitment for the next Chief Executive has commenced and the selection results will be announced in due course. In the interim, the current Deputy Chief Executive, Mr Francis HO Ying-foo, will serve as the Acting Chief Executive.
Since joining the Consumer Council as Chief Executive in 2012, Ms Wong has been dedicated to fulfilling the Council’s statutory functions in promoting and protecting consumer rights and interests. In recent years, she has led the digital transformation of the Council, ensuring its work keeps pace with the digital economy era. Internationally, she also served as the Vice President of Consumers International’s Board of Trustees, actively championing the global consumer protection movement.
The Council Chairman Mr Clement CHAN Kam-wing remarked, “Gilly has devoted herself to serving the Consumer Council and the public for many years, achieving significant accomplishments. Under her leadership, the Council has continued to promote consumer protection and deftly navigated today’s increasingly complex and ever-changing consumption environment with a forward-thinking mindset.
