Coinciding with the Council’s 50th anniversary and the exciting announcement of online CHOICE (eCHOICE) becoming free for public access next year, the theme for this year’s Hong Kong Book Fair booth (from 17 July to 23 July 2024) will be “Free CHOICE Available for All in 2025”. In addition, a webpage dedicated to the Book Fair will be launched from 3 July for 5 consecutive weeks with a total of 10 selected paid articles for public reading, allowing readers to be the first to experience the joy and convenience of reading eCHOICE anytime and anywhere. Visitors to the booth will get a taste of reading eCHOICE for free with step-by-step demonstration and guidance by the staff on-site.
As eCHOICE will be available for free starting from 2 January 2025, subscribers whose subscription period falls on or extends beyond the January 2025 issue not only can register for a refund following the current mechanism stated on the Council’s website, but also can enquire about refund details at the booth. Those who register for a refund in-person at the booth will receive a small gift.
A snapshot-worthy backdrop will be set up for visitors to take photos, featuring a colourful wall with graffiti-style artwork infused with authentic Hong Kong elements. The booth, desks, and chairs will be made from recyclable materials, contributing to waste reduction at the source in line with the Council’s advocacy of sustainable consumption and environmental protection. In addition to a range of specially designed on-site activities and games, the Council will also give out various Golden Jubilee limited edition gifts that are both functional and collectible. The details of the games are as follows:
Game 1: Consumption Knowledge Quiz
Participants need to draw a “golden pig” card printed with a question related to CHOICE articles and scan the QR code to receive tips. Those who answer the consumption-related question correctly will receive a randomly distributed prize, which may include items such as a “RPET Recycled Sling Bag”, a “White Oak Storage Box” or a cotton towel set. The first 50 participants each day will also receive a copy of CHOICE Issue 573 (July 2024).
Game 2: Golden Jubilee Tongue Twister Challenge
Participants will have to first follow any of the Council’s social media accounts, then scan the QR code provided and practice the tongue twister displayed on the website. Participants who complete the tongue twister within 7 seconds will be rewarded with a Golden Jubilee edition quick-dry towel, with a limited quota of 30 sets per day. The first 10 participants who successfully complete the tongue twister within 5 seconds will receive a travel bag set as a bonus prize. This game will be available daily from 3pm to 4pm.
Other Rewards
Book Fair visitors who follow CHOICE’s Facebook or Instagram page will receive a copy of past CHOICE Issue (from Issue 567 to 571).
