The Department of Health (DH) today (June 30) endorsed a licensed drug wholesaler, namely KLN Pharma (Hong Kong) Limited O/B KLN Pharma (Hong Kong) Limited, the distributor appointed by Teva Pharmaceutical Hong Kong O/B Teva Pharmaceutical Hong Kong Limited (Teva), to voluntarily recall one batch (batch number: CH2734) of the pharmaceutical product, namely Co-Codamol Tab (Hong Kong registration number: HK-33414) from the market as a precautionary measure due to potential quality issues.
The DH received notification from Teva that the overseas manufacturer of the concerned product is recalling the above batch of Co-Codamol Tab because the impurities levels are out of specification in the affected batch. As a precautionary measure, Teva voluntarily recalls the above batch from the market.
The above product, containing paracetamol and codeine, is a prescription medicine indicated for relieving pain and fever. According to Teva, the affect batch was imported into Hong Kong and supplied to private doctors, private hospitals and pharmacies.
Teva has set up a hotline (3188 4288) to answer related enquiries.
So far, the DH has not received any adverse reaction reports in connection with the above product. The DH will closely monitor the recall.
