The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department today (October 15) urged consumers to stop using Whirlpool dehumidifiers model numbers SS20, SS205 and SS206 and to approach Whirlpool (Hong Kong) Limited for free maintenance service. The affected dehumidifiers are those with serial numbers between CNNO40300000 and CNNO64199999.
According to information provided by the supplier, the internal motor starting capacitors of Whirlpool dehumidifiers of the mentioned models and serial numbers may overheat during prolonged operation, posing a potential risk of an electric short-circuit.
The affected dehumidifiers were supplied to the local market between January 2004 and December 2006.
Whirlpool will offer free maintenance service for affected consumers and post safety notices announcing the free maintenance service in the newspapers today and tomorrow (October 16).
