Recall of Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce in cans

Heinz Hong Kong Limited has voluntarily recalled Heinz Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce in 400 g cans recently (2 February 2001), following checks that have found tin levels in excess of the statutory limit. The company advises consumers not to consume singly sold Heinz Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce in 400g cans with MSLD in the product code.

According to the company, no adverse health effects have been reported about this product and there are no long-term health issues, this action is being taken as a precautionary measure. Only Heinz Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce in 400g cans with product code MSLD are included in this recall. The product code is located at the bottom of the can as shown below:

Heinz Hong Kong Limited has informed its distributor in Hong Kong to stop the distribution and recall the product on 1st February 2001. Over 90% of the product were recovered. According to the company, only a small quantity of this product with the MSLD code in Hong Kong has come from the supplier concerned.

Consumers with recalled cans of Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce may contact the product's distributor to exchange for a replacement.
