To foster public awareness of consumer rights issues, the Consumer Rights Reporting Awards (CRRA), organised by the Consumer Council (the Council), invites public to vote for the winning entries in 2 award categories—the “News Photography Award” and the “Tertiary Student Journalism Award” again this year. The 3-week public voting period officially starts today (24 July). From now till 14 August, members of the public can visit the online voting platform (available in Chinese only) and vote for their favourite entry among the 5 finalists in each category.
The results of the public voting, together with the scores from the adjudication panel, will be combined to determine the final recipients of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in the 2 categories.
Consumer news is closely related to the public’s daily lives. Through the public voting campaign, the Council hopes to encourage consumers to take an active part in supporting outstanding journalists and the next generation of journalism talent, while deepening their understanding of various consumer issues, and enhancing awareness of protecting their own consumer rights and interests.
CRRA Public Voting: Joining Hands to Promote Consumer Rights
Since its establishment in 2001, the CRRA has been a signature annual event organised and hosted by the Council, which aims to honour local journalists for their outstanding achievements in reporting consumer-related issues and to encourage the media to raise public awareness and understanding of consumer rights through professional and in-depth reporting.
