The Consumer Council is concerned over reports of shortage in supply and price gouging of infant milk powders

The Consumer Council is concerned over reports of shortage in supply and price gouging of infant milk powders.

It conducted today (September 30) a price survey of 27 models of milk powders of leading brands available at major supermarket chains, health-and-beauty shops, and drugstore and pharmacy outlets.

The results were compared with those of a previous price survey conducted by the Council on September 19. Contrary to some reports, the results indicated that in general, prices have remained largely unchanged.

The Council has also been reassured by major suppliers of infant milk powders that they will not change their wholesale price, and will maintain stable supply in Hong Kong.

Results of the price survey will be upload on the Council's website www.consumer.org.hk/shopsmart and www.consumer.org.hk/pricewatch for reference of consumers.
