The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) coordinates with the local supplier of Toshiba products to launch a voluntary maintenance programme on Toshiba 15" colour television model "15V11B" for the sake of public safety.
The supplier, Toshiba Hong Kong Ltd., will provide a free-of-charge maintenance service for the TV sets from today (July 3) onwards. Serial numbers of the affected TV sets are as follows:
102-2308401 to 102-2309400
102-2417501 to 102-2418500
102-2Y37701 to 102-2Y38700

It was found that the insulation of a piece of internal wire might be damaged during assembly work in the factory. As a result, the antenna/AV terminals might become live, thus posing an electric shock hazard to users.
A spokeman for EMSD urged consumers to immediately stop using the TV sets and contact the supplier to arrange for inspection.
