The 6th Offence: Wrongly Accepting Payment (Scenario 1)

Onion Junior purchased a discounted dining voucher from a group-purchasing website. With only $100, he could enjoy the French foie gras and lobsters dinner set that was originally HKD$488. Yet, the condition stated, “The voucher is only valid within 90 days of the date of purchase. Customers must make a reservation two days in advance. ”

Onion Junior asked the waiter, “It’s fully booked every time I call in for reservation. How many seats does the restaurant have?” The waiter replied, “We have a total of 80 seats and we have already reserved 30 seats for group-purchase customers.”

Onion Junior realized that a total of 8,000 dinning vouchers were sold after checking the group-purchasing website. He did a mental calculation, “There are 30 seats reserved for group-buy customers. Assuming they can serve two rounds of diners each evening, they can only serve 5,400 people in 90 days. The group-purchasing website oversold 2,600 vouchers.”
