relating to competition policies
The Hong Kong
Government, in its May 1998 Statement on Competition Policy called
on business to cease existing, and refrain from introducing,
restrictive practices that impair economic efficiency or free
trade. Examples were given in the Statement of some practices that
might warrant more thorough examination, such as price-fixing,
bid-rigging, market allocation, sales and production quotas, joint
boycotts, unfair or discriminatory standards, predatory behavior in
selling below cost, tie-in sales and setting retail price
minimums. It also set up a body known as the
"Competition Policy
Advisory" (COMPAG) to review policy issues related to
competition. A copy of the Government's Statement and a report

to raise an issue with the Council that concerns a restrictive
trade practices, along the lines described above, you can write

hand, you would like to make a complaint as a consumer about
matters such as:

not corresponding to description;

delay in
delivery;

dissatisfaction of

misleading and
deceptive conduct
and you have
negotiated with the provider in vain, you are also welcome to lodge
your complaint with our Complaints and Advice Division .
